Another few months of growth has meant that we’re ready to welcome 2 new members into the CRC Team!

We’re on the hunt for a keen Chartered Accountant, and an Accounts Senior. Two vital additions to the compliance arm of our business!

The experience you’ve gained in practice so far will be invaluable in helping give clients peace of mind, knowing their affairs are all taken care of!

We’re open to you being based in Orkney, or based remotely. If you are based outside Orkney, we’ll be sure to take you up to Orkney from time to time, so you’re 100% part of the team. We’ve got 2 beautiful new apartments (see below) to compliment our stunning new offices at The Old Library – so you’ll have a nice short commute during your stay here!

Chartered Accountant

Package

  • Salary - £45,000 - £60,000+ DOE
  • 5% Employers Pension
  • Private Health Insurance (can be extended to your immediate family)
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Opportunity for future staff ownership

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead junior members of the team, providing oversight, coaching and support.
  • Supporting client onboarding journeys
  • Improve processes for new clients to best in practice, leveraging technology where possible and streamlining them.
  • Supporting the design of rich bespoke client management information and data analytics.
  • Developing client process manuals.
  • Reviewing close activities and monthly working papers e.g. reconciliations, vat returns, prepayments/accruals & journals.
  • Using and reporting from cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Reviewing management commentaries.
  • Reviewing monthly/quarterly management accounts.
  • Reviewing annual statutory accounts and corporation tax.
  • Investigating and responding to technical accounting queries.
  • Primary relationship owner for a portfolio of clients - holding regular meetings with those clients.
  • Performing ad hoc requests and non-routine questions from clients.

Qualifications and skills

  • An accountancy qualification (ICAS, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a small to mid sized practice.
  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of bookkeeping, management accounts, and finance processes.
  • Specific experience with the Companies Act requirements and UK GAAP.
  • An enjoyment of working for different clients whilst understanding their individual needs.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with particular experience in Excel.
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • The ability to proactively question everything to improve quality and processes – ultimately to find more value for our clients!

Accounts Senior

Package

  • Salary - £28,000 - £38,000 DOE
  • 5% Employers Pension
  • Private Health Insurance (can be extended to your immediate family)
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Opportunity for future staff ownership

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing management accounts and statutory accounts schedules
  • Reconciling balance sheets
  • Preparing financial statements
  • Preparing tax returns
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Supporting senior members of the compliance and commercial teams
  • Using and reporting from cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks).

Qualifications and skills

  • No formal qualifications needed, although AAT qualified (or similar) would be advantageous
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a small to mid sized practice.
  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of bookkeeping, management accounts, and finance processes.
  • An enjoyment of working for different clients whilst understanding their individual needs.
  • Strong computer skills, with particular experience in Excel.
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
