We’ve had a good run of form lately!

Growth of our existing clients. Some exciting new clients coming on board. And of course our new project at The Old Library – our future offices, and a co-working space which we’ll share with a wide range of other local businesses, freelancers, and business tourists!

With one eye on the longer term growth and development of CRC, it’s time for us to expand our team.

The headline points

  • The role: Financial Analyst/Finance Controller/Qualified Accountant
    • These names are interchangeable for us - but this is the level of experience we're looking for!
  • The salary: DoE, but always very competitive
  • The hours: 35 per week - but we will still consider applications for part-time
  • 30 days annual holidays
  • Professional membership fees paid for (and further training where required)
  • Private Health Care available to you and your loved ones
  • The location: we’re based in Orkney, but you don’t have to be. We’re flexi between the office and home (3:2 days per week, respectively).
  • The clients: ambitious small businesses & tight knit teams, typically turning over between £1m-£5m per annum, spread across the UK, and facing a super interesting mix of challenges for us to advise upon!
  • Available for immediate start, if desired!
  • Opportunities for future ownership of our firm!

Application deadline: Sunday 13th August 2023.

So what exactly is the role?

You'll be working closely with our in-house Client Finance Directors. You'll help them analyse the myriad of data which we're presented with by our clients (financial and non-financial), and turn it into something digestible and meaningful, ready to be discussed with the client.

Supporting the FD's, you'll help the clients find creative ways in which the client can enhance the performance of their business.

You'll be involved in a mix of recurring work for your portfolio of clients, as well as unique consultancy & project work to help find solutions to one-off challenges facing our clients.

This role requires a strong understanding of the finances of a business. This includes the ability to analyse, reconcile and sense-check the data we're presented with, as well as forecasting out the potential future scenarios.

However, as we need to be able to talk in practical terms to our clients, it will also take a desire to truly understand the day-to-day operations of our client's businesses. Using this knowledge, you'll turn the financial jargon into something which resonates with the clients!

Going forward, you'll work with all of the team at CRC to embrace AI, and utilise it to deliver even more value to our clients and their teams.

This role is very much a combination of financial & data analysis, and using that to give actionable insights to the real humans behind it.

What qualifications do I need?

You don't need any formal qualificiations.

If you’re a Chartered Accountant, that’s cool. If you’re a Chartered Management Accountant, that’s also cool. If you're newly qualified, or even just starting into your exams (having completed a relevant degree), we're all ears!

Qualified by Experience is perfect too.

Whatever the case, we're most interested in your mindset, and desire to help our clients!

So long as you have the following in abundance, we’ll be interested in hearing from you:

  • Solid understanding of business financial information
  • A keen eye for spotting a solution/different way to tackle a problem
  • Analytical, with a keen eye for detail
  • A willingness to challenge and be challenged!
  • BONUS POINTS: have dabbled in a bit of code/have some developer experience

Who will I be working with?

Meet the CRC squad here!

We know; that’s probably enough to make you want to apply straight away! But read on - there’s more…

How do I apply?

It’s a simple two-parter.

  1. Send us a copy of your CV (the easy bit)
  2. Either a covering letter, or a video introducing yourself (the interesting bit!)

A video?! What?!

We used to make these compulsory for all applicants. But this time round, we're leaving the choice as optional! You can opt for a letter, if you really loathe the video option!

Whether it's by letter, or by video, we’d like the following points covered:

  • What you’ve enjoyed about your career so far
  • Why this role, and why now? What’s the reason for applying?
  • Hobbies and stuff you like – work/life balance is important. What else do you get up to?!

Please keep the written info (exc. CV) to less than 2 pages, and the video to less than 5-6 minutes.

Whilst we’ll love hearing from you, we’ll save the detail to the interview stages!

How do I get all of this to you?

The easiest way is through WeTransfer.

We'll be able to securely download your documents at this end, and can take it all from there!

What’s the future like at CRC?

We have big plans, and the successes to date are just the start!

This is a team effort, and a collective approach. You’ll be integral to the future direction of the firm, and helping shape your own future and the future of the businesses we work with!

Are you ready to get stuck in?!
