Fiona MacInnes joins us as a Financial Controller, and Brogan Russell has been taken on as a Graduate Apprentice in Business Management.
This brings the headcount of Team CRC to 9 – plus a few notable associates!
Fiona has worked in finance for many years – originally in another local accountancy practice, where she gained her AAT qualification. She then took this experience into industry when she moved to another local company, working in their finance team, and then latterly onto their management team.
Outside these roles, Fiona and her husband, Callum, also have their own successful business – The Island Smokery. They have also both been on the board of Orkney Food and Drink for many years, and are passionate about the offerings which local Orcadian businesses are able to produce.
Combining this first hand experience of owning and operating her own business, Fiona is poised to help clients optimise their systems and processes.
She will also be responsible for helping clients get clear on their financial forecasts, ensuring they can navigate the road ahead!
Brogan has actually been working with CRC since the end of 2023. We were initially introduced to Brogan by his careers advisors at KGS, and were able to offer him some work experience.
A few impressive months later, and we’re delighted to formalise the position, and bring him on board full time.
With CRC’s support, Brogan will be going through the Graduate Apprenticeship programme. This is a 4 year course, which combines formal study in a structured environment, alongside practical application of the theory within our firm’s workplace.
At the end of the programme, Brogan will gain a degree in Business Management. It's great to be able to bring on a 6th year school leaver, and offer this further education locally!
Why Business Management, and not accountancy?
Many of the principals of the Business Management course were the same as the Accountancy courses, as there’s a lot of overlap. Increasingly though, the work we’re doing with clients is more holistic than just the traditional nuts and bolts of accountancy.
From discussion with Brogan, and his understanding of the work we’re doing with clients, we could see that the Business Management course would be a great fit for us all!
We’re delighted to welcome these guys to the team, and look forward to them working with you all going forward!
